STOP & SMELL THE LIGHTNING ~ DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

In a very on-brand (spooky, chaotic, unpredictable) turn of events, the vinyl stock got lost in transit (halloween curse!) and has been delayed. This has unfortunately really jeopardised my chance of charting in the ARIA charts, as I had a bunch of launch events and listening parties over the weekend that I was unable to sell vinyl at.

SO - i have a huge favour to ask you!!!!

I’ve discounted my digital album downloads to $2 ~ it’s basically free, it’s a third of a coffee, it’s nothing! Every single sale counts, and is SERIOUSLY appreciated.

The cut-off date for charts is midnight this Thursday, so any digital download / vinyl / CD sales before then will count.

Why do I care about charting?! Well, to be completely honest, i don’t really…. I don’t think the charts reflect whether the music is good or whether it is connecting with people. You can’t have CHARTS without ART but you can definitely have ART without CHARTS… Actually I think the whole system is a bit cooked and is really just a popularity contest between major labels. As a fully independent artist, the charts are massively stacked against me, as I don’t have the budget to pay for huge marketing campaigns and line the front walls of Kmart and JBHIFI with my album blah blah blah. And, I don’t need a commercial ranking system to tell me whether or not my music is good.

BUT, getting into the charts would open doors for me and would genuinely help my career. It would help me get radio play, shows/festival offers, and would help me to build my team, especially internationally. So, despite my cynicism, I might as well give it a go. That’s where you come in!
